Still no answer to the allergy mystery

This morning was Kaya's allergist appointment.  The staff was nice, and we were seen promptly.  The doctor was very good with Kaya but unfortunately they can't do the allergy testing if the patient has had antihistamines in the last five days.  Five Days!! Would have been nice if someone had told me that, or if the pediatrician had thought to mention it when he prescribed benadryl and the allergist... :(

So, we have another appointment next Monday.  The doctor was very puzzled by Kaya's rash.  It is only on the top/sides of her right leg, right side of the front of her abdomen and the underside of her right arm.  I can't think of a single thing that has changed in her environment that would be a contact allergy - especially one that she would have contact on areas that are both always covered with clothing (stomach) and almost never covered with clothes (arms) - and only on one side of her body.  And if it is not a contact allergy it makes even less sense that it would only be on one side of her body.

We did get a prescription that the doctor that she was confident that if it is an allergy would clear it up quickly and give her some relief while we are waiting for the next appointment.  If the prescription does not help then it is more thank likely not an allergy and our next step will be a dermatologist.

The other strange thing is both yesterday and today Kaya developed a fever for a few hours that just disappeared.  Yesterday it was right before nap time, mid-101 and was gone when she woke up and stayed away.  Today she had a slight one in the morning, the nurse that took her temp said it was normal and didn't really say anything when I said I was surprised because she felt warm.  She felt warmer when we were leaving so I checked when we got home when we got home her temp was mid-102.  It stayed all the way through nap time but an hour or so after nap it was just gone.  She was acting a little quieter than normal but not particularly under the weather.  I have no idea whether the fever and the rash are related or just coincidental.  If they are related why is the fever just showing now, almost four weeks after the rash started?

The pharmacist said the prescription tends to make kids hyper, oh, and cranky - nice.  So, I didn't give Kaya today's dose until after her nap, around 2.  By 5:30 I think it looked better, less red and less bumpy, but Chris just thought it looked different more blotchy - not necessarily better. We will see in the morning.  fingers crossed...
