What I did this Summer - Kaya

Kaya's summer started off with her baptism at our church, St. Timothy's in Mesa. My Aunt Mary hosted a brunch in Kaya's honor that morning. Here are some of my favorite photos from the brunch and the baptism:













Her baptismal gown was made by my mom, originally for Alexa.






Kaya's first tooth came in on July 4th, with the second coming in about 10 days later. As of today, no more yet. She absolutely loves having her teeth and gums brushed with the little finger toothbrush but any other time you try to get a look at her teeth she gets so upset.

By the middle of July, just short of 9 months old, Kaya was cruising along the furniture and we thought she was going to beat her sister's mark of walking at 9 months, but that point came and went. She was even showing off by standing up all on her own, even bouncing up and down a little, but no steps. At 9 months, 13 days she finally showed us that she could take multiple steps - see back a few days for a post with a video.

Kaya's other main accomplishment this summer has been working through all kinds of new foods. She was almost 8 months old before she finally got the hang of eating but since then she has been working her way through lots of foods and has been a very good eater. She loves using a mesh feeder and anything she can pick up herself, but does pretty well with a spoon too. She loves avacado, just like Alexa did.
